Hertz APAC Re-platforming
Hertz is a global car rental company that operates many other car rental brands such as Thrifty, Ace, Dollar, Thrifty Trucks etc.
I worked within the Hertz digital delivery team through a digital agency contract, where my main focus revolved around building a new monorepo tech-stack from scratch. This tech-stack was aimed at modernizing the Hertz APAC sites.
Due to the nature of this project and given it's not yet had an official public release, I'm unable to provide updated videos and pictures on the project.
My Role
The name of the game for this project was to add value in reusability and scalability through the custom component library and the headless CMS mapping, so that subsequent projects of a similar nature could be easily repeated with no maintenance overhead and consistency across projects
Initially we used VueJS for development but found the lack of library compatability and bug support somewhat absent enough that it was slowing down development. We then made the switch to React within a 4-week sprint and this is where we really refined the design system (component library).
• Developed a comprehensive custom component library tailored to project requirements while also streamlining future projects.
• Incorporating reusability and multi-tenancy techniques using tailwind themes and headless CMS mapping to lay the foundation for multiple new sites.
• Worked closely with marketing specialists to provide support for the existing legacy Hertz websites.
• Used several modern libraries to refine and optimize the Hertz booking funnel journey.
